Airport Facilities Engineer

As the Airport Facilities Engineer, you are responsible for the planning, maintenance, improvement, and lifecycle management of airport terminal facilities and building assets. You ensure that airport facilities remain safe, reliable, efficient, and aligned with operational requirements while leading maintenance projects, capital improvements, and facility enhancement initiatives.

Main responsibilities include: 

  • Develop and implement maintenance, rehabilitation, replacement, and capital improvement plans for terminal facilities and building assets, supporting current operations and future airport growth.  
  • Manage and execute facility maintenance and improvement projects, ensuring delivery within budget, schedule, quality, safety, and security requirements while maintaining compliance with airport standards and procedures.  
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors and technical staff, monitor project and team performance, and provide guidance to support the effective execution of maintenance and engineering activities.  
  • Prepare engineering scopes, specifications, cost estimates, budgets, and tender documentation, and support procurement and project evaluation processes as a subject matter expert.  
  • Monitor facility condition, asset performance, and space utilization, recommending improvements and enhancements that support operational efficiency, passenger experience, and asset reliability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil and/or facilities Engineering or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance, facilities management, project management, and leadership roles.  
  • Experience managing maintenance and infrastructure projects, including budgeting, planning, tendering, and project execution.  
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and engineering principles.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, MS Project, and AutoCAD.  
  • Strong communication skills in English, Dutch, and Papiamento, both verbal and written.  
  • Spanish is an advantage.  
  • Strong planning, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills with a results-oriented and customer-focused mindset.

Airport Facilities Engineer reports directly to the Engineering & Quality Control Manager.
