Aerodrome Emergency Management Coordinator
As Aerodrome Emergency Management Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing airport-wide emergency response strategies and plans. You play a key role in ensuring the airport is prepared to effectively respond to incidents such as aircraft emergencies, hazardous materials, security threats, or natural disasters. You will lead training exercises, manage risk assessments, coordinate with local authorities, and promote a strong safety culture across the airport community.
Key responsibilities include:
- Enforce the Safety Management System (SMS) on Landside & Airside areas by conducting hazard analysis & risk assessment, inspections, safety audits, safety investigations, safety promotion activities, and regulatory compliance.
- Collect, analyze safety data and provide reporting and effective mitigating strategies with the Safety & Compliance Manager.
- Develop and maintain the Aerodrome Emergency Plan (AEP) with national calamity legislation, AUA-AGA law, and ensure alignment with national and international safety and worldwide emergency preparedness recommended practices.
- Align the Aerodrome Emergency Plan with AAA evacuation plan and other airport related business continuity plans.
- Chair emergency response & planning related meetings and committees on behalf of the Safety & Compliance Manager.
- Represent AAA N.V. in meetings, emergency briefings, and crisis communication with other authorities and media.
- Act as a key liaison with government agencies, airlines, and airport stakeholders in coordinating emergency preparedness & response efforts.
- Ensure alignment of stakeholders’ emergency plans (Airline & government emergency plans) with the airport’s emergency plan by conducting regular reviews.
- Coordinate training activities & exercises given by the Aruba Crisis Management Office.
- Coordinate and lead airport emergency drills and exercises (tabletop, functional, and full-scale), evaluate outcomes, and implement improvements.
- Deliver emergency preparedness training and awareness programs to AAA staff, users, and mutual aid partners.
- Maintain accurate emergency training exercise records, emergency preparedness documentation, and response protocols in compliance with legal requirements.
- Prepare official reports and post-incident evaluations in collaboration with the Safety & Compliance Manager.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in aviation safety, Emergency Management, Crisis Management, or related field in Aviation. However, candidates with a HBO-level working and thinking capacity, complemented by substantial aviation or crisis management knowledge and experience, are also encouraged to apply.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience in preferably an Aviation environment, or minimum 5 years' experience in an Operational Airside function with knowledge of the national and international aviation regulations on safety and security.
- Experience in airport and/or airline emergency management.
- Indepth knowledge of national and international aviation regulations, including AUA-AGA and ICAO SARPs.
Preferred knowledge and experience:
- Knowledge in NFPA, OSHA, or DTI Safety Inspector Training.
- Knowledge of Airport Operations and SMS.
- Experience in Aircraft Accident Investigation.
- Experience in technical report writing.
- Familiarity with national emergency standards (CMO) ACI, IATA.

The Aerodrome Emergency Management Coordinator reports directly to the Safety & Compliance Manager.
